Nutcracker 2023 recap — part 2
A few months have passed but it’s never too late to look back on some Nutcracker memories.
In case you missed it, here’s part one of our Nutcracker 2023 recap with a video.
Week two of our 2023 production took Genesee Dance Theatre to Wellsville, NY. The David A. Howe Public Library is one of our favorite venues — it’s where our company got its start in 2014. Our production was created specifically for the small stage dimensions of the library auditorium, one challenge that we faced when scaling it for a bigger venue for the first time in 2022.
As much as I love performing in Perry, the vintage charm of the Howe auditorium at Christmastime is hard to beat.
Most of the Perry cast reprised their roles for Wellsville’s run. We also invited a few Wellsville based dance students from STEPS Dance Studio and Martelle Dance Academy to join us as mice in the battle scene! These young dancers performed with amazing energy despite only having two rehearsals to prepare!
Before Saturday’s performance, our cast stopped by the Trim-a-Tree Party hosted by the Friends of the David A. Howe Public Library. We couldn’t resist the opportunity to snap a few photos among the stacks, too. What’s better than ballet plus books?
